This place actually rebranded to a Chinese food restaurant called southside ken! It's great food at reasonable prices!
Phenomenal noodle dishes reasonably priced and very comfortable Asian setting. This location was not crowded whatsoever when dined here. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms.
Went in for an evening snack. The folks in there were pretty chill, and their fried rice, eggrolls, and crab rangoons hit the spot after a long jog. Their thai tea was a bit on the sweeter side, which I liked, so I ended up walking home feeling quite refreshed.
Absolutely the best place in the world to eat. I went here on a whim with my sister for a late dinner. We asked to dine in and they accommodated us although it was clearly a strange ask. One of the places really changed by the pandemic. Most folks were in and out grabbing door dash. How many small businesses adapted. But we dined in and we’re waited on by the absolute sweetest woman. She was short and had dark hair was was incredibly kind, the inspiration for this post. It seemed that she was glad to have people sitting down where she could see us enjoying the food. Small staff, good vibes 10/10
Long-time fan, first-time reviewer. This is my favorite thai place in Hyde Park. They accommodate my preferences and often spoil me with extra peanut sauce and chili paste. The owner and staff are friendly, efficient, and the food always comes out hot and fresh and tasty! I order directly from them when I'm getting take-out and they are so appreciative! So please do call them directly when you wish for takeout or pickup, it supports their business model. Long live Thai 55!

Ah Thai 55, how I love thee - let me count the ways. I've been frequenting this place for the past 10 years. I've brought friends, family, co workers etc. to this spot and they all have loved it - not one complaint or bad reviews. Which brings me to me next point - a 2.5 is no where near and accurate review!!!!!!!!! It's actually blasphemous. The service and food are great! My top go toos are the Pad Thai (half chicken, half steak), The roasted duck, sweet & sour chicken and I always get an order of pot stickers steamed. Don't believe the rating and trust that you certainly can get some great food here. Cheers!
Thai 55 is one of my go to spots to order from. I always get the chicken pad Thai, and today I also got the chicken egg rolls. The chicken egg rolls were a lot heavier than I expected, deep fried and stuffed with chicken and veggies. The chicken pad Thai is always a MASSIVE portion, plenty for 2-3 meals. I would definitely order again!
